We have a Social Service department that offers emergency financial assistance, a Food Pantry, a Crisis Center that houses the Domestic Abuse Center and the Sexual Assault Center, three Resale Stores and Donation Centers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports To: Director of Finance

Supervises: Store Staff, Volunteers, Community Service Workers

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Resale Stores and Donation Center, working closely with store and donation center supervisors to ensure effective operations and superior customer service.

2. Work closely with the Director of Finance to continuously assess stores’ performance against goals.

3. As primary administrator on the Point of Sale (POS) system, learn about the system and ensure store staff is thoroughly trained.

4. Maintain current procedures manual for all store and donation center processes, including the POS system.

5. Oversee receiving, sorting, researching, pricing and displaying of donated items.

6. Plan and oversee ongoing special sales promotions and events. Work with Director of IT and Communications to promote items on social media and develop print material.

7. Maintain current knowledge of resale, thrift and retail industry practices and trends through research, webinars, staff meetings and periodic offsite training. Network with other thrift shop managers and seek new resources for current trends and best practices.

8. Coordinate hiring, supervision, evaluation and professional development of Resale Store and Donation Center staff. Provide ongoing leadership and coaching to staff and volunteers, ensuring all are fully trained and competent to perform assigned tasks. Implement cross-training. Conduct performance reviews for all staff members, as per the Employee Handbook, and submit them to the Director of Finance.

9. Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit Resale Store and Donation Center volunteers.

10. Conduct the end-of-year physical inventory count of all stores, coordinating with the Director of Finance.

11. Collaborate with the Director of Finance to draft the annual stores’ budget.

12. Oversee store maintenance issues and lease compliance. Ensure fire code regulations are strictly followed in the Stores and Donation Center.

13. Oversee display of merchandise to enhance the Stores’ appearance and help drive sales.

14. Engage in community outreach.

15. Perform all other duties, as assigned.

Administrative and Financial Management

1. Engage in the implementation of the Strategic Plan and Annual Goals as pertains to the stores.

2. Adhere to all organization policies and procedures.

3. Attend staff meetings, committee meetings and development workshops.

4. Oversee resale store bank deposits and balance end-of-day cash sales, working together with accounting.

5. Adhere to organizational financial policies.

6. Prepare and submit weekly and monthly required KCM reports to the Director of Finance.

7. Manage staff’s time, reviewing and approving time in Time and Labor system for payroll processing. Manage staff requests for time off.

Requirements:

Skills, Experience and Education Required

1. Proven success in retail/resale management (3+years) required.

2. Proven ability to generate sales and maintain a high level of customer service is required.

3. Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.

4. Experience working in a non-profit organization strongly preferred.

5. Strong verbal, writing and organizational skills.

6. Proficiency in database programs, Microsoft Office and Point of Sale system.

7. Knowledge of budget management and projections.

8. Ability to analyze retail trends.

9. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule and work weekends and some holidays.
