Senior Buyer

Position Overview:

The Senior Buyer is responsible for performing procurement activities across multiple categories, including ingredients, packaging, and supplies used in our food production facilities. This position is based in-office five days a week at our Pearson’s Candy facility in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Senior Buyer reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and, in their absence, to the Head of Procurement for Promise Confections.

Job Duties include but are not limited to:

• Locate vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sale.
• Execute purchasing strategies, assist in negotiations, and close deals with optimal terms.
• Generate purchase order claims in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
• Manage approved suppliers and ensure their compliance with contract agreements.
• Follow defined procedures for the approval of new suppliers for packaging and ingredients.
• Collaborate with the procurement and leadership teams.
• Comply with all company rules and regulations.
• Report any regulatory, safety, and food safety issues immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Email, Teams, etc.).
• Experience working with ERP and/or inventory management systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
• Ability to read and speak English fluently.
• Ability to communicate issues effectively with procurement employees and management.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics, including algebra, and the ability to perform measurement conversions of percentages, discounts, and values.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to make timely, efficient decisions.
• Capacity to manage multiple tasks and situations simultaneously.
