FIRST THINGS FIRST... WHAT IS A MULTIPURPOSE HOME?
Our Multipurpose homes are residential facilities for juvenile offenders referred by the court system. MHC staff implement a model of care that teaches teens to change problem behaviors and attitudes, expand their skills, and recover from setbacks and mistakes.
WHAT DOES THE FAMILY SERVICES SPECIALIST DO?
The Family Services Specialist provides a comprehensive array of services to juveniles and their families. They are responsible for in-home parenting skills work, case selection and management, and youth service planning. Specialist's predominant role is community-based engagement with families while the youth is in care, and up to 6 months after. Goals of the services provided by the Family Services Specialist include actively engaging families to become involved with the care and treatment of their child, family reunification, and the successful adjustment of the juvenile in the family and the community upon discharge from the program.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR THIS AMAZING JOB?
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age;
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with families; two (2) years experience working with the target population is strongly preferred.
- Must maintain a valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully complete all phases of pre-service and on-going training, including, but not limited to, physical restraint training, First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, and medication administration.
- Must be able to work in high pressure, high stress environment.
Methodist Home for Children employees enjoy paid training, ongoing supervision and support, excellent benefits after 90 days of employment, a team environment and a rewarding atmosphere.
Paid Holidays: MHC gives full-time employees paid holidays each year.
Vacation Leave: First partial calendar year of hire is pro-rated at 10 days (80 hours) per year.
Sick Leave: Paid sick leave is accumulated at 12 days (96 hours) per calendar year. All unused sick leave will carry over into the next calendar year.
Health Benefits: Employees may choose between the BCBS Medical Base HSA Plan or Medical Buy-Up HSA Plan. Dental and Vision plans are also available.
Health Care Flex Plan: Employees can utilize the optional Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HSA) tax-free reimbursement program for out-of-pocket medical, dental, and vision expenses for themselves and their dependents.
Dependent Care Flex Plan: Employees can utilize the optional Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) tax-free reimbursement program for their eligible dependent care expenses.
Life Insurance: Term life insurance is provided by MHC for full-time staff in the amount of $75,000. Supplemental life insurance is available for individual or family coverage.
Workers’ Compensation: This agency-paid benefit covers on-the-job injury.
403B Plan: Employees can contribute to a tax-deferred annuity plan; MHC matches a portion of the contributed funds.
Credit Union: All employees are offered membership to the Coastal Credit Union (CCU).
