Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS), a private institution with a 140+ year tradition located in Albany, NY, is seeking applications for a part-time faculty member in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, which serves the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Qualified applicants should have a PharmD and prior teaching experience. The faculty member will participate in teaching activities in the pharmacy program. The specific courses include Fall PSL531 and Spring IPS502, PTP520 and Summer PTP520. In addition, the faculty member may participate in the experiential learning program for pharmacy at the clinical site and be assigned students as appropriate. The faculty member will perform service for ACPHS with 1 committee membership, student advising and assist in student enrollment activities available. A commitment to excellence in teaching and student development is essential, as are excellent communication (both verbal/written), interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Participation in the service missions of the College is also expected.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teaching and development of course materials for Pharmacy Skills Lab (PSL) and Pharmacotherapy (PTP) sequences.
- Advising and mentoring students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.
- Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
- Participate in relevant committee work.
- Engage in scholarly activities as appropriate for a part-time position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate the ability to both work independently with little direction and work confidentially with discretion.
- Demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and work ethic.
- Interact effectively with organization members.
- Observe schedules and meets assignment deadlines.
- Willing to learn/enhance skills needed to perform responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook), Adobe, Office 365, One Drive and Sharepoint.
- Prior research experience is a plus.
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree
- NYS Licensed Pharmacist
- Completion of PGY1 residency, preferred
- Prior teaching experience preferred
Physical Demands: Moderate Work: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
