Position Summary:

The Department of Life Sciences at the Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (www.acphs.edu) is seeking candidates for adjunct instructor level positions in the lecture and labs of the following courses: General Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry. These positions will commence in the Spring of 2025.

Adjunct faculty need a strong understanding of the subjects they teach with the primary goal of educating their students. The typical Adjunct faculty job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Developing a course syllabus for each class they teach
  • Lecturing, leading class discussions and conducting other teaching activities during scheduled classes
  • Creating, administering and grading various assessment methods
  • Answering questions and providing additional support for students
  • Calculating and submitting grades for all students
  • Collaborating with other professors to create coursework or support the department
  • Following established expectations and protocols for the department
  • Conducting research and staying current in the field

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possesses a working knowledge of the content matter of the supported course.
  • Has technological ability to understand and utilize TurnItIn, Canvas, Zoom, and other necessary instructional software.
  • Has necessary maturity, responsibility, integrity, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have an MS or PhD in a relevant field.
  • Ideal candidates will have a documented interest in teaching at the undergraduate level that includes prior independent teaching experience.

Length of Assignment:

  • appointments are per semester
  • appointments are renewable based on need and performance
