Job Title:Licensed Practical Nurse
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Shift: Days (Mon - Fri)
Contract Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension
Responsibilities:
- Able to perform the majority of patient care functions needed in an acute care setting with minimal orientation and supervision.
- Greet patients, direct them to exam rooms, and prepare for exams.
- Routine assistance during exams: set up trays for injections, measure and record the progress of patients, and take and record vital signs.
- Assist with general office duties, reception, appointment scheduling, filing, and chart preparation.
- Contact various insurance companies to obtain authorizations for physical therapy, MRs, CTs, surgery, etc.
- Contact primary care physicians to obtain referrals for new patients or extensions of referrals for current patients.
- Assist physicians in patient care.
- Maintained exam rooms and all clinical areas.
- Administer injections and assist with Paps and other procedures.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records is strongly desired.
- Implements nursing care activities under the direction of the primary or associate nurse as outlined in the nursing care plan.
- Observe and report patient responses to treatments.
- Participates in activities related to nursing unit management.
Skills:
- Current New York State license; able to be certified/re-certified in CPR.
- Minimum of 1 (one) year of experience required.
- Prior experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with patients, family members, and other members of the healthcare team.
