Job Description:


The Surgical Technician, under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, is responsible for patient care and safety during surgical procedures. This role provides technical assistance in the Operating Room, ensuring the principles of asepsis are correctly applied. The Surgical Technician works closely with the RN Circulator and physician, prepares the operating room, and ensures all necessary instruments are sterilized, organized, and available.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Prepare the room with the nursing staff for surgical procedures in a timely and organized manner.
  • Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures and assist the physician.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the OR and Endoscopic Lab.
  • Stock and replace Central Sterile items, maintain inventory, and prepare surgical instruments.
  • Handle surgical specimens and correctly follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite.
  • Compile necessary equipment on the surgical field and assist with patient transport to and from the OR.
  • Monitor surgical equipment maintenance and repairs, perform CPR as needed, and complete documentation of unusual occurrences.
  • Maintain a cooperative and professional disposition in the OR.


Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current BLS Certification required.
  • CST Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to make sound judgment and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to successfully pass Background Check and Drug Screen.
