The Director of Development is responsible for the strategic direction and management of key donors and fundraising initiatives essential to developing, expanding and stewarding annual fund support for One More Child. This director reports directly to the Senior Director of Annual Fund. This director also has occasional contact with members and/or spouses of the Board. The Director of Development maintains collaborative relationships with the leadership of One More Child to maximize fundraising and communication effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that annual fund development activities and philanthropic support are based on the organization’s strategic goals, objectives, and future plans.
  • Responsible for planning and executing the annual fund program and strategies designed to ensure fulfillment of funding goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with annual fund donors and prospects.
  • Conducts research for individuals as needed.
  • Develop an atmosphere conducive to annual giving that supports the funding priorities of the organization.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of individuals.
  • Coordinate prospect assignment/clearance through moves management meetings.
  • Assist with the strategic planning and preparation of funding proposals, fundraising materials, and other presentations.
  • Articulate the funding priorities in written materials, in meetings with individuals and during speaking engagements before larger audiences.
  • Seek and identify new prospects capable of contributing gifts and pledges at annual fund giving levels.
  • Work with Communications on social and digital media opportunities for the development program.
  • Develop donor communication tools for cultivation, recognition, stewardship and solicitation.
  • Design, implement, and direct multiple projects, setting deadlines and ensuring project accountability.

  • Maintain personal and professional growth and development through seminars, webinars, workshops, books, software, publications, and professional affiliations to keep current with legal issues and the latest trends in the field of fundraising.
  • Participate actively to assure compliance in assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
  • Is highly motivated, organized, displays sound/mature judgment and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
