Summary

The Director of Architecture will lead the architectural strategies and initiatives across all Technology disciplines at the organization. This role is responsible for defining the overall architecture framework that supports the strategic goals of all business lines. The Director of Architecture ensures that IT infrastructure, software, and data architectures align with business requirements, promoting efficiency and innovation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership: Define and maintain an enterprise architecture framework that integrates IT infrastructure, software development, and data management with business processes.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop long-term strategic plans for IT architectures that support business objectives and technological advancements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of architects, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Governance and Compliance: Oversee the creation and implementation of architectural policies and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal guidelines.
  • Security Oversight: Ensure that all architectural designs incorporate robust security measures to protect organizational data and systems from cyber threats, aligning with industry best practices and compliance standards.
  • Technology Evaluation: Lead the evaluation and selection of technology solutions that align with the architectural strategy and business needs.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to understand their needs and ensure that the IT architecture supports these requirements effectively.
  • Innovation and Transformation: Drive innovation and guide the organization through IT transformations by adopting new technologies and methodologies that enhance service delivery and business operations.
  • Budget Management: Oversee budgeting and resource allocation for architecture-related projects and initiatives.
  • Risk Management: Identify architectural risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure system stability and security.
  • Documentation: Ensure comprehensive documentation of all architectural frameworks, policies, and procedures is maintained and accessible.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field or relevant experience. Master’s degree in a relevant discipline preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in an IT architecture role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position preferred.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing IT solutions in a healthcare, pharmaceutical, or Pharmacy Benefit Management environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development practices, and data architecture.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage highly technical teams.
  • Excellent strategic planning and project management skills.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards affecting the healthcare and pharmacy sectors, including HIPAA.
  • Proficient in the use of modern cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to navigate complex challenges and drive change within the organization.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment. Travel will be required.
