Oregon SurgiCenter has a FT Environmental Services Technician opportunity available.

Oregon Urology Institute and Oregon SurgiCenter is one of the largest, most advanced urological centers in the Northwest. Oregon Urology Institute provides patients with some of the region's finest medical experts covering every major urological specialty using proven and leading-edge technologies. Oregon SurgiCenter is an outpatient surgery center devoted to urologic procedures.

The Environmental Technician is responsible for cleaning and general maintenance of the clinical areas.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oriented to all surgical areas. Assists in turning-over OR rooms between cases.
  2. Cleans rooms between cases and daily terminally clean OR's.
  3. Removes soiled linen from all areas and bag for pickup each day.
  4. Works with linen company to anticipate needs of the facility.
  5. Distributes clean linen to all areas.
  6. Assists in transporting patients between areas, understands the importance of assisting patients carefully, using the appropriate stretchers and wheelchairs.
  1. Has a good knowledge of the location of equipment and supplies.
  2. Cleans rooms between cases and daily terminally clean OR's.
  3. Keeps counter tops and shelves free of dust.
  4. Stocks scrub brushes, anti-microbial hand washing solution and surgical supplies.
  5. Keeps caps, masks and shoe covers stocked.
  6. Makes up stretchers between patients if needed.
  7. Performs general delivery service for the Surgery Center and runs errands as needed.
  8. Pulls garbage in RR and OR.
  9. Keeps kitchen clean.
  10. Keeps hallways clean of clutter.
  11. Checks sharps containers throughout building and empty when needed.
  12. Completes weekly Environmental checklist.
  13. Participates and makes suggestions to the Quality Improvement process and activities including the areas of Safety, Infection Control, Adherence to Guidelines for Cleaning/Decontamination of the Center, Adherence to Guidelines for Sterilization of Instruments and Supplies, Patient Satisfaction, Physician Satisfaction, Compliance with OSHA Standards, and Risk Management.
  14. Demonstrates competency in performing job tasks and in operating equipment on an annual basis.
  15. Follows HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality.
  16. Assists in cleaning and processing instruments, as needed or shorthanded.
  17. Answers materials management loading area, unpacks and puts away supplies, as needed.
  1. Assists in other departments as needed.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ASSETS

  1. Maximum care and caution required when handling surgical equipment and instruments.
  2. Responsible for conservation and control of supplies utilized and maintenance of equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS (PHYSICAL)

  1. Standing and/or walking a considerable amount of duty time.
  2. Pushing, pulling, lifting and positioning light to heavy equipment and patients.

WORKING CONDITIONS (ENVIRONMENTAL)

  1. Works in well-lighted and ventilated area with complicated equipment, some of which is hazardous in nature.
  2. May be exposed to patients who have communicable diseases. With proper techniques, this risk should be minimized.

EMPLOYMENT VARIABLES

  1. Variable between 6:00am and the time the last patient leaves on regular workdays, depending upon assigned area.
  2. Staff is expected to leave when work is completed.
  3. The Surgery Center will not be open on major holidays.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Demonstrates cooperative work attitude toward and with co-employees, management, patients, visitors and physicians.
  2. Maintains regular attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school graduate or GED preparation required.
  2. Must obtain and maintain certification in Basic Life Support training.

All candidates must pass a drug screen, reference, and background check to be considered for employment. All new employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to provide proof on their first day of work.
