Patient Access Representative-OBOT

Summary:
The Patient Access Representative (PAR) is the first point of contact within the OBOT program. The PAR should embody excellent customer service and create a welcoming environment for patients. Almost all work will be done on the computer and they register patients for OBOT appointments and walk-in telehealth SUD assessments. They verify patient insurance benefits and assist in the completion of MNSure applications as needed. Additionally, they will manage schedules for Nurse Practitioners that see OBOT patients. The PAR works as a part of a multidisciplinary team and must be able to adapt to changes in their work environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- General:
- Includes greeting patients & ensuring they are receiving the highest level of care.
- Scheduling patient appointments with appropriate providers.
- Interacting positively and caring manner with patients, co-workers, and visitors.
- Answer phones and transfer calls to appropriate staff member.
- Receive and process cash payments for services rendered.
- Facilitate and record credit card payments for services rendered.
- Maintain orderly and clean patient areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Patient Services:
- Verify and update patient information in Procentive every visit.
- Assist patients with necessary paperwork.
- Answer patients with MNSure applications and other funding related paperwork.
- Verify patient's insurance coverage and eligibility for benefits.
- Patient Records:
- Maintain patient record confidentially in accordance with 42 CFR & HIPAA.
- Fax incoming patient records to Torrey Support Staff for uploading into the patient's EHR.
- Coordinate with Torrey Support to respond to records request accurately, effectively, and in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional verbal & written communication with providers within OBOT and interdepartmentally.
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have two years of experience in an office setting.
- Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Records systems.
- Must be MNsure certified within 60 days of hire.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid certification or obtain it before direct patient contact.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working within a Medical Office.
- Prior experience registering patients with MNSure benefits and verifying insurance coverage.
- Prior knowledge and experience working within confidentially laws such as, 42 CFR and HIPAA.
