West Music is a family-owned music company located in Coralville, IA. We are looking for a Director of Information Technology to oversee mission-critical applications, develop innovative IT solutions, review and modify our IT Infrastructure as needed, and manage information systems. This position will act as a key business partner to functional leaders across the company. The Director of IT will plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department. This role will be heavily involved in working closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The Director of IT will directly manage the IT staff including hiring, daily management, leading and inspiring growth and development within the team.
This role requires an in-office presence to start.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Strategy & Planning
- Lead the Technology department's operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources
- Formulate and direct deployments of strategic technology projects.
- Manage IT department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- Review and manage technology support service metrics with comparisons to targeted goals and objectives.
- Design and lead security efforts to safeguard critical business information.
- Develop, review, and maintain financial investments for IT initiatives to ensure they align with stated company goals, guidelines, and objectives.
- Work closely with senior management and leaders to coordinate, development and enforce data system governance as well as policies and procedures to support
- Develop, motivate, and direct the team to uphold company, client, and employee information security
- Oversee provisioning of end-user services, including helpdesk, support, credentials, and access.
- Develop and maintain strategic technology roadmap to align with business goals and cascade strategy and communication across company.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for all key technology systems. Plans to be reviewed minimum of every three years and per change management requirements.
- Lead and Manage IT projects and team members to address resource needs, project timelines, and resource allocation.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Manage the bid and acquisition process for all new information technology systems. Develop requirements for all hardware and software upgrades, review submitted proposals for compliance with stated requirements, and makes the appropriate award
- Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs
- Work with the President/CEO and key decision makers to evaluate and approve purchases
- Build relationships with vendors and procurement relationships for IT equipment, software, and services
- Manage financial aspects of the Technology department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
Leadership & Development
-Manage and develop the IT team, including supervision, scheduling, evaluation, performance, accountability, and disciplinary actions
-Design and lead growth and development plans for team to level-up their technology skills and grow
-Work across the organization to understand, communicate, and synthesize business needs into effective and future focused technology solutions
Education, Experience & Qualifications –
Required qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and five years applicable work experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
· Four years’ experience managing and/or directing an IT department.
· Understanding and technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
· Experience with systems and network design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management.
· Knowledge of the use of Dynamics NAV ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Business Central, VMware Administration, Cisco Meraki Administration, Microsoft Domain Management (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), Office 365 Administration, Microsoft Azure Administration, and Backup Systems.
· Must be available to work non-traditional hours including on call as needed, occasional nights and weekends to accommodate maintenance, upgrade schedules and unplanned events.
· Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured as a driver of West Music vehicles.
