Supervisor: Senior Registrar

Union Minimum Salary: $50,769.00

General Purpose:

Reporting to the Senior Registrar. working collaboratively with the Curatorial Department and Art Preparator's to provide registrar support with the coordination of temporary exhibitions: and traveling exhibitions.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with arrangement of incoming and outgoing shipping, packing and courier coordination as related to temporary exhibitions. rotations and travelling exhibitions
  • Review loan documents and preparation of Certificates of Insurance
  • Develop installation and deinstallation schedules, prepare condition reports, packing documentation and facilitate crate storage
  • Generate incoming and outgoing receipts and shipping and crate lists
  • Develop shipping budgets in a timely manner
  • Work collaboratively with the curator
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and properly document related expenses within an established budget
  • Track exhibitions in database and oversee applicable data is complete and updated
  • Perform courier duties as necessary
  • Assist with special projects as necessary
  • Adhere to and follow national standards and best practices for art museums


Requirements:

Education/Experience:

BS/BA degree required. Masters degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience in a museum setting


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Prefer a minimum of three years working experience in the registrar's department of an art museum or similar institution
  • Bachelors Degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies or related field; M.A. preferred
  • Ability to work independently in an efficient and effective manner
  • Excellent computer skills and knowledge of a collections management database. TMS preferred but not necessary
  • Knowledge of standard museum procedures and best practices
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge of a foreign language helpful

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to bend, lift up to 25 lbs. climb stairs, and walk moderate distances.
  • Remain stationary up to 6 hours per day
  • Move about the museum, loading dock, vaults and offices
  • Reach above shoulders
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl upon occasion
  • Color vision and depth perception, ability to adjust focus
