Position Title: Major Donor Specialist

Department: Advancement  

Reports to: Development Director

This position is: Full-time; Support-raised; Exempt. 


The Major Donor Specialist will help Launch Global fulfill its fundraising goals of raising $15 million as part of the 10:2 Campaign at the direction of the Development Director and in coordination with other key leaders’ organizational ministry partnership development (MPD) efforts. The Major Donor Specialist will play a key role in the overall development strategy by specifically cultivating a network of major donors. The Major Donor Specialist will fulfill the whole scope of major donor fundraising by initiating contact, building relationships, casting vision for ministry partnership, and soliciting major financial donations. 


The Major Donor Specialist should possess a positive, entrepreneurial attitude and be able to flexibly adapt, responsively learn, and successfully follow through with the broad arc of responsibilities required to raise major funds. This is an externally facing position charged with building ethical, meaningful, and lifelong relationships with donors and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be one who has demonstrated a track record of success in the fundamental aspects of the required job responsibilities. Additionally, the Major Donor Specialist will utilize a CRM to track and report all the essential data required for successful campaigns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 


  • Raise $15 million over three years as part of the 10:2 Campaign
  • Reach out to the list of 12k+ list of donors, prioritizing based on net worth, size and frequency of gifts, etc. 
  • Cultivate relationships, express gratitude, communicate the effectiveness of donors’ gifts, and cultivating new gifts
  • Track and report activity in a CRM
  • Frequently communicate in written and verbal form
  • Solicit major gifts from individuals, organizations, foundations, and corporations
  • Cast vision and relate to donors from a posture of building ministry partnership more than merely soliciting financial gifts
  • Innovate other ideas to raise funds toward the $15M goal
  • Maintain a coachable attitude, responsive to and even driving potential opportunities for experimentation, changing tactics, and flexibility as needed
  • Set up major donor conversations with the CEO and other leaders for organizational fundraising
  • Execute strategy for all major gifts activities, including identification, cultivation, and solicitation
  • Serve the department and the organization as a team play, responsive to needs that may fall outside of this job description, as necessary

Education and Experience 


  • A proven track record of at least three years of successful MPD efforts personally and in advisory efforts for others.
  • Experience with and aptitude for all aspects of donor communications including but not limited to public relations, print and digital media, and events.
  • Strong networking skills and a demonstrated ability to develop a good rapport with donors.
  • Cultural competency with diverse constituencies across a myriad of ethnicities and nationalities. 
  • Experience with and aptitude for relational databases, including data entry, tracking, analyzing and reporting data.
