Business Relations Manager (Senior)

Personnel Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of relative experience, OR
  • A master’s degree and five (5) year of relative experience, OR
  • At least ten (10) years of relative experience in a role where IT customer relationship is the primary role in lieu of a degree.
  • At least seven (7) years’ experience in developing, implementing, or managing business relationships with primary focus in the information and technology space.
  • One or more of the following certifications preferred:
  • Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

Capabilities

  • Leads and/or participates in the collaboration on the development and prioritization of the business partner’s investment portfolio.
  • Negotiates agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business stakeholders and TS from initial requirements to final implementation.
  • Leads and may champion change management activities (i.e., frequent communication to staff and clients about the change and the impact of the change, advocacy, coaching, and mitigation of resistance to minimize disruption and achieve desired results from initiatives that are triggered/enabled by technology).
  • Shepherds and/or participates in the collaboration on the development and prioritization of the business partner’s investment portfolio.
  • Reviews requirements with change management and business transformation teams.
  • Works with internal stakeholders to align technology solutions with business strategies. Represents the business strategies and priorities to technology groups/organizations.
  • Participates in the negation of agreements and commitments by facilitating communication between business stakeholders and TS from initial requirements to final implementation.
  • Ensures customer priorities for products and services (new and/or existing) are aligned with desired business outcomes and are effectively established and articulated, while representing the strategic information & technology vision to the business, and serves as an advocate for business requirements and required results.
  • Maintains awareness of changes to business strategy, goals, and processes to ensure requirements appropriately reflect the need of the organization; understands business processes, operations and priorities of the supported business areas.
  • Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations to support stakeholder’s desired future state and evaluates risks associated with business decisions. Advises on options, cost/benefits, and risks associated with solutions and strategies.
  • Identifies business value through the demand shaping and ideation process, demonstrating a focus and understanding of digital awareness, risk management, business continuity and business capability requirements.
  • Participates in creating, facilitating and promoting a creative process for investigating and developing new ideas for improved information and technology leverage.
  • Maintains creativity and innovation by tracking, managing, and cultivating business and technological trends.
  • Manages change management activities (e.g., frequent communication to staff and clients about the change and the impact of the change, advocacy, coaching, and mitigation of resistance to minimize disruption and achieve desired results from initiatives that are triggered/enabled by technology).
  • Conducts business satisfaction surveys. Analyzes business satisfaction survey results and develops plans for improvements, as needed.
  • Establishes and maintains a strategic relationship with appropriate level key stakeholders and the information and technology organization.
  • Manages stakeholder’s perceptions of and satisfaction with all IT services.
  • Participates in and contributes to business client leadership meetings. Ensures stakeholder’s expectations are set and identifies and resolves disconnects through negotiation or governance mechanisms; communicates with stakeholders and project managers, to ensure awareness of progress, risks, and results.
  • Contributes in the development of customer’s technology strategies and roadmaps.
  • Facilitates stakeholder (internal) business planning and strategy meetings to develop and prioritize a demand plan. Prioritizes initiatives in accordance with business strategies.
  • Applies a knowledge of Information &Technology, the service catalog and the assigned business area(s) to identify and communicate how IT solutions can support the achievement of short- and long-term business goals.
  • Identifies strategic business function opportunities both short-term and long-term and track adoption across the relevant departments.
  • Engages with project and program leads from business units and information and technology teams to ensure common understanding of objectives of strategic efforts.
