Summary:    
The Purchasing Manager plays a critical role in ensuring smooth functioning of the manufacturing process by overseeing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for production. This will be accomplished by building relationships and aligning the values of Midland Garage Door with vendors and always purchasing the best materials or the best service from the most responsible vendor at the lowest cost.

Essential Duties:   
  1. Represent Midland professionally while building relationships and negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers.
  2. Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying supplies.
  3. Locate vendors of materials or supplies and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales.
  4. Manage a system that ensures Midland is always purchasing the best materials or the best service for its needs from the most responsible vendor for the lowest cost.
  5. Confirm receipt, ensure price accuracy, and guarantee prompt payment for all items and services that Midland receives. Follow established protocol by allocating payment to the correct month, attaching bill of ladings to invoices whenever possible, and filing appropriately.
  6. Professionally resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers while ensuring relationships are intact.
  7. Maintain records of goods ordered and received.
  8. Ensure that Midland always receives the promised value from all vendors or that it is credited for any shortfalls.
  9. Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability.
  10. Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for products and acceptable substitutions.
  11. Schedule product or material transportation.
  12. Develop purchasing strategies.
  13. Lead a culture that ensures that only Midland, not individual employees, benefit from vendor incentives.
Supervisory Responsibilities: 
  • Interview, hire, and manage Purchasing Agents.
  • Ensure your team is trained, coached, and motivated.
  • Know, understand, and enforce all aspects of the company policy.
  • Review, praise, or discipline, and terminate employees properly and as needed.
  • Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the department.
  • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Approve timecards for team members and approve time off requests based on workload.
  • Resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Always strive for improvement.

Education and Experience:   
High School or GED required, and 3+ years of experience in a similar field preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and duties as listed above.
