POSITION SUMMARY

The Psychiatry Mid-Level Provider will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse patient population, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. The Psychiatry Mid-Level Provider will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality mental health services in a clinic setting.


POSITION SUMMARY EXPANDED:

Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, (“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.

Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITES


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including patient interviews, medical history reviews, and mental status examinations.
  • Diagnose and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with various mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders.
  • Treatment and Management:
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring appropriate follow-up and monitoring of patient response and side effects.
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling as appropriate, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, incorporating input from patients, families, and other healthcare providers.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated care.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and continuing education activities.
  • Coordinate with primary care providers and other specialists to ensure comprehensive and holistic care for patients.
  • Patient Education and Support:
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • Provide support and resources to help patients adhere to treatment plans and improve their overall well-being.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinic policies and procedures.
  • Stay current with developments in psychiatry through ongoing education and professional development.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Program and certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. The employee shall meet the requirements of the Oklahoma Board of Medical Examiners; and be licensed to practice medicine without restrictions within the State of Oklahoma.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Current licensure as NP or APRN to practice in the State of Oklahoma by the State Boards with appropriate provider supervision and prescriptive authority
  • Current DEA certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Board certification in psychiatry or mental health (PMHNP for NPs or CAQ in Psychiatry for PAs) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.),
  • Exemplary customer service experience including client relationships and job knowledge,
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills,
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively; ability to critically think,
  • Knowledge of quality control,
  • Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision and arm-hand steadiness accurately,
  • Ability to be empathetic with patients; ability to maintain confidentiality.
