Responsibilities include maintenance and repair of diesel and non-diesel equipment, trucks, and refuse bodywork, encompassing hydraulic, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems. The Lead Mechanic/Technician diagnoses complex repair issues, guides fellow technicians on diagnostic techniques, performs external repair inspections to ensure safety compliance, and schedules repair tasks to enhance workshop productivity and reduce downtime. Reporting directly to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager.Compensation:

$35 - $40 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain expert knowledge and advanced proficiency in-vehicle components and systems like chassis repair, refuse bodies, air and hydraulic braking systems, engine maintenance, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Perform complex repair and maintenance functions on-site and on the road.
  • Conduct line maintenance welding and fabrication.
  • Provide guidance to technicians to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair work.
  • Inspect and verify repairs by third-party vendors for compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
  • Diagnose complex repair issues using electronic tools.
  • Complete relevant Company training programs.
  • Act as a mentor to technicians.
  • Handle Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities when needed.
Qualifications:
  • Experience performing inspections and repairs on heavy truck systems including Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, and Diesel Emissions
  • Familiarity with OSHA Haz Com, Lock Out Tag Out, and fire protection regulations is advantageous
  • Previous supervisory or lead technician experience is beneficial
  • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working on heavy-duty trucks as a technician
