Job Description – Planning Stamping Engineer

FSLA Status: Exempt

Location: Lordstown, OH

Reports To: Manufacturing Planning Manager

Primary Function: The Planning Engineering organization is a primary supporting function of Foxconn Ohio production departments. The organization’s primary duties are to plan and execute modifications to production system including introduction of new process equipment, modification of existing building and infrastructure, and installing new manufacturing infrastructure on Foxconn Ohio campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Estimating press line refurbishments and new press installations.
  • Press die design, outsourcing, and maintenance tooling for existing FOH press lines.
  • Able to calculate press line capacity for customer volume.
  • Compare, examine, and comprehend customer EV products and processes and how to merge existing manufacturing system with new customer products and processes
  • Create/modify the existing Foxconn manufacturing system to achieve EV Contract Manufacturing goals and objectives
  • Incorporate Voice of the Customer into inputs and outputs of Foxconn Ohio manufacturing system
  • Create sustainable lean manufacturing system using industry-accepted best practices and established automotive manufacturing concepts while maintaining the maneuverability, innovative mindset, and awareness of finite resources (Start-Up Mentality)
  • Support Industrial Standardization group to define industry-proven best practices in equipment design, process design, equipment integration, and large-scale project management
  • Provide technical support to maintenance, production, and engineering departments
  • Implement data driven decisions to optimize quality cost and efficiency
  • Provide strong working knowledge of manufacturing engineering, automotive processes, and project management principles
  • Incorporate product and process changes with internal customers (manufacturing department)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering or similar degree from an accredited college of university is required or equivalent experience.

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive engineering or construction engineering is required.

Requires Skills/Licenses/Certifications

  • Tool & Die Journeyman required
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCad, Solidworks, Catia, etc.) is required.
  • Ability to prepare, modify, read and interpret drawings/technical requirements/specifications.
  • Experience with vehicle manufacturing processes or automotive paint process is required.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Must have extensive experience with stamping presses and dies for automotive manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of steel and aluminum stamping. Roll forming knowledge a plus.
  • The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, and customers across a wide variety of issues.
  • Must be self-directed with exceptional time management, prioritization, and organizational skills; Strong project management skills to keep team and actions on track to completion.
  • Proven experience working with new equipment installation and existing manufacturing system modification.
  • Demonstrate hands-on approach, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Motivated to learn and develop incredible on-the-job experience.
