Pre-K (P4J) Teacher

Job Summary

The P4J teacher is responsible for promoting school readiness using the School District of Janesville 4K curriculum and family engagement practices. In cooperation with program staff, ensures program site operates in conformity with agency standards and government regulations. Ensures the availability of program supplies and the integrity of the enrollment process and participant records.


Major Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for the effective leadership of assigned staff including participating in the hiring process, on-the-job training, performance management to include counseling, motivating, disciplinary actions and performance reviews.
  2. Teach using School District of Janesville 4-K Curriculum.
  3. Ensure compliance with state licensing and Young Star Program standards.
  4. Plan for and facilitate parent involvement. Coordinate/conduct parent meetings as needed.
  5. In the absence of other available teaching staff, serve as a substitute
  6. Assist in setting up two parent events per year (open house, conferences, talent show etc.)
  7. Attend staff, departmental, and other YWCA meetings as assigned.
  8. Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals, mission and programs.
  9. Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Educations
  • Teaching License 3.05 and 3.065
  • Registry Level 2
  • Knowledge and understanding of State of Wisconsin Licensing Standards for Group Day Care Centers.
  • Knowledge of child development, learning theories, curriculum alternatives, and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Experience supervising and training teaching staff preferred.
  • Ability to provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for children.
  • Detail-oriented with good communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop a team approach with staff, volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enthusiastic, warm and approachable.
  • Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
  • Good judgement when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.

Hours: School Year (10 Mo) Position. Mostly weekdays with occasional evenings and weekends
