Your Role

As the Director of Fleet Operations, you will lead a mission-critical operation, overseeing our entire fleet maintenance strategy and execution. You’ll manage a team responsible for proactive, preventative, and predictive maintenance, ensuring that our luxury coaches operate with the same precision and reliability as military or aviation fleets. This role requires a leader who recognizes the critical importance of preventing mechanical failures, understanding that even minor issues can have significant consequences on our ability to serve our clients and the overall effectiveness, reliability, and reputation of our fleet in the market. You'll bring experience in managing high-stakes fleets, and your leadership will cultivate the culture and mindset necessary to uphold these high standards.

You will oversee all aspects of fleet management, including managing five direct reports from our Parts team, Detail Maintenance team, Diesel Technician Training team, Housekeeping/Wash Bay team, Diesel Tech team, and Interior Maintenance team. Your ability to implement and innovate fleet management systems, create maintenance schedules, and drive collaboration across multiple teams will be essential. Additionally, your role will require you to influence and shift the culture within teams, fostering a mindset of excellence and reliability. You’ll be expected to lead strategically, driving initiatives that align with the company’s long-term goals.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and manage a diverse team of technicians and supervisors across multiple disciplines, ensuring alignment with Encore’s high standards and mission-critical operations.
  • Preventative & Predictive Maintenance: Oversee the creation and execution of maintenance schedules, ensuring that every vehicle in our fleet remains in peak condition, with no room for mechanical failure.
  • Fleet Management System Development: Implement and manage comprehensive fleet management systems, including maintenance intervals, schedules, and parts inventory to ensure self-sufficiency.
  • Training & Development: Lead the development and coordination of training programs for technicians, fostering continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in safety and maintenance.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure all maintenance and repairs meet the rigorous standards required for mission-critical operations, comparable to military or aviation fleet standards.
  • Culture & Mindset Shift: Drive cultural change within the team, instilling a mindset of excellence and an understanding of the "why" behind preventative maintenance.
  • Liaison & Communication: Effectively communicate and collaborate with leadership, driving initiatives from the top down and ensuring they are executed on the floor.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide both strategic direction and operational oversight to meet and exceed operational goals.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience leading multiple teams in mission-critical maintenance environments, such as military, aviation, or similar industries where mechanical failure is not an option.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing fleet management systems and driving process improvements across diverse teams.
  • Proven leadership in influencing team culture, driving collaboration, implementing process improvements, and effectively managing organizational change.
Nice to Have
  • Strong data analysis skills, particularly in predictive maintenance.
  • Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or similar frameworks for operational management.
  • Experience with advanced asset management and fleet tracking software (e.g., SAP, Fleet Complete, Fleetio, or AssetWorks).
  • Lean Manufacturing or other process optimization certifications.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or similar process improvement certifications.
  • Formal training or experience in change management (e.g., PROSCI certification).
