What would you do as a Homeless Services Manager?

As the Homeless Services Manager at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will play a vital role in delivering essential services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness due to mental illness and substance abuse. Managing a caseload of approximately three hundred clients, you will oversee a team of outreach and residential workers, ensuring high-quality care and support. Your responsibilities will encompass program analysis, grant reporting, budget management, and the development of innovative initiatives to enhance service delivery. From psychological assessments to crisis intervention and medication supervision, you will lead comprehensive efforts to address the complex needs of our vulnerable population. What we're looking for in a Homeless Services Manager

To excel as a Homeless Services Manager at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and at least three years of hands-on experience in providing direct care to homeless individuals with complex needs. Additionally, applicants must have at least one year of supervisory experience, showcasing strong leadership and team management skills. A valid Driver's License is essential for this role, as it may involve outreach activities and client visits. The ideal candidate will exhibit empathy, excellent communication, crisis intervention skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

The knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and three (3) + years of direct care experience in homeless services to the client population to which assigned with one (1) year of supervisory experience. Valid Driver's License
