Quality Technician – Job Description Overview: This position requires an individual to have an eye for detail and the ability to work independently as well as collaborate with representatives of various departments to ensure products and processes meet or exceed employer, customer, and other requirements for quality, delivery and process performance.Knowledge/Education/Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience working in a Quality Control environment.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints/drawings and other related documents describing product dimensional, functional, application and other requirements.
  • Able to perform bench layout inspections using variable and attribute measuring equipment.
  • Clear understanding of relationships between product, process, and systems level requirements.
  • Strong communication skills – ability to clearly articulate thoughts, ideas, and concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Familiar with concepts related to calibration – identification, traceability, and calibration intervals.
  • Confident and consistent demeanor when dealing with peers and external parties.
Essential Functions:
  • Assist receiving department with checking in shipments and pulling samples to support AQL inspections.
  • Perform quality inspections and product testing to ensure processes and products conform to planned requirements.
  • Perform internal calibrations.
  • Scheduling, and coordinating outsourced calibrations of monitoring and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to document and communicate results of inspections and details of identified concerns using Inspection, Observation, and Discrepant Material Reports (DMR’s).
  • Document, distribute, and file MTR packages.
  • Responsible for confirming/analyzing quality defects and communicating results to internal and external authorities.
  • Coordinate returns of discrepant materials to domestic and international suppliers.
  • Accumulate data to support analysis of supplier performance.
  • Facilitate supplier development in collaboration with representatives of other related functions.
  • Document First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) using inspection reports and balloon prints.
  • Create documentation necessary to support Production Product Approval Processes (PPAPs).
  • Provide support to engineering for new product and process designs and changes to existing designs.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Implement improvements at the product, process and systems levels.
  • Create Proforma shipping documents and processing and /or offering assistance when processing international returns.
  • Other responsibilities as determined necessary.
