PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

A Drafter, or Draftsperson, creates engineering designs, drawings, and other technical information for use in manufacturing, construction, and fabrication. Their duties include creating traditional designs from preliminary sketches, verifying that drawings meet required specifications, and creating technical documents and reports.


SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES

· Create preliminary design sketches for conceptual analysis

· Create engineering drawings and designs for production and manufacturing

· Create design specifications, documentation, and material lists

· Estimate material and production costs for designs

· Prepare complete documentation packages for engineers

· Verify drawings are correct to specifications, codes, and other regulations

· Developing technical reports for engineers

· Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed.

· Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

· Maintains compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and best practices.

· Aggressively promote safety, regulatory, and policy compliance.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

· Valid NC driving license

· Proven work experience – more than 3 years – as a drafter in manufacturing environment and/or food/beverage experience

· Hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software

· Ability to operate computer-aided design (CAD) software and familiarity with 3D modeling tools

· Ability to multitask and manage several projects at a time

· Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

· Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Project Managers and Engineers

· Time management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe

· Communication skills with an emphasis on reading and writing for creating documentation and reports

· Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions

Requires extensive safety training, and use of protective devices such as face shields, eye/ear/nose protection, and skin protection. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, gripping, Very heavy work: exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Steel-toed footwear is required. Long workdays and weekend work when required.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

· Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

· Standing: Particularly for sustained periods.

· Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.

· Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas using the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

· Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.

· Very heavy work: exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, or over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

· The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures: transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.


Work Environment

Office conditions for design work; plant and outdoor conditions on some job tasks.
