Job Summary:

REV Renewables is looking for a Director of Safety to join our team. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and will be responsible for implementing and promoting a culture of safety within the corporation. This position is responsible for designing a safety program for the Company and will work closely with leadership, and their employees, to build and implement a robust and sustainable Safety culture. This position is a Safety Champion and builds the same culture within the Company. This position will review, interpret, and advise management on complex safety compliance and policy matters. Has a complete understanding of safety principles, concepts, practices, standards, and regulations.

Job Functions:

  • Responsible for developing, and overseeing the organization's safety policies and procedures including corporate, construction and operations.
  • Design, implement and monitor safety training programs.
  • Create plans and policies for emergency preparedness, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
  • Collect data, identify, and report causes of accidents and near-misses and develop recommendations and follow-up to prevent recurrences.
  • Monitor and ensures the complies with OSHA and other state, local, or industry-specific regulations at all offices and facilities.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits across offices operating facilities and construction sites.
  • Provides programs that ensure a safe workplace, including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and protective equipment.

Required Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently. Also, must be an effective team player with a record of consensus building with internal/external parties.
  • Ability to perform and manage multiple tasks and issues simultaneously and perform assigned responsibilities at a high level in a fast-paced, often changing environment.
  • Specialized regulatory knowledge of safety (both federal and state) regulations, including OSHA.

Education/Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience, with at least 7 years in a supervisory or management capacity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Environmental Sciences, Safety Management, or science-related field.
  • OSHA certification
  • Commensurate experience/professional training is required as well as a demonstrated track record in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification a plus.
  • Strong communication and willingness to have a hands-on approach is required.
  • Experience working in a power plant or with a renewable energy facility is preferred.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate workplace hazards.
  • Travel required 40%
