New York, United States Urban Upbound Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

Founded in 2004, the mission of Urban Upbound is to break cycles of poverty in public housing neighborhoods and other low-income communities in New York City. We advance our mission through five integrated programs: employment services, financial counseling, youth development services, community revitalization, and financial inclusion anchored by the Urban Upbound Federal Credit Union.

The Data and Program Coordinator is a key member of the Workforce Development Program. Reporting to the Program Director and the Urban Upbound Data and Evaluation Manager, and working in collaboration with program leadership, the Data and Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the program’s databases and safeguarding its content. The Data and Program Coordinator is also responsible for assisting clients with low computer literacy skills and supporting the day-to-day operations of the program.

This is a fast-paced position ideal for an individual with drive, enthusiasm, strong work ethic, strong analytical and communications skills, good at collaborating and who has the ability to multitask within an environment of multiple deadlines. Also needed are a good sense of humor and a strong desire to create lasting, meaningful change in public housing neighborhoods.

Responsibilities:

  • Recording data in the program’s databases, paying attention to the various contracts that fund the program and their respective requirements.
  • Providing data analysis and data quality management to support program leadership.
  • Assisting clients working in the computer lab, and explaining and enforcing our policies regarding using the lab.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and organizing the computer lab space, including computers, printers, tables, and bulletin boards.
  • Ensuring the program is in compliance with funders’ requirements regarding intake, assessment and other service related documentation.
  • Providing excellent customer service and supporting clients in enrolling in computer literacy training.
  • Conducting computer literacy skill workshops.
  • Keeping updated in best practices and technologies for safeguarding the integrity of data and ensuring its use is responsible and non-exploitative.
  • Using design software to create promotional materials for the program such as flyers, posters, palm cards, and social media posts.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Program leadership, the Urban Upbound Data and Evaluation Manager, or the executive team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Research, Data Science or a related field, or 4 years of experience in a data-related position.
  • Experience facilitating workshops or conducting training sessions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace (G Suite).
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Flexible, with the ability to work one evening per week and at least one Saturday per month.
  • Strong time management, organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and produce high quality work in a timely manner.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with high integrity and respect.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with capacity to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience creating social media content and knowledge of design are a plus.
  • Open to learning new skills and take on additional responsibilities.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker is a plus. Other languages are welcomed.
  • Sense of humor and passion for social justice.

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance, dental, retirement, commuter, vacation days, sick days, and a flexible work schedule.
