PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for the strategic oversight of the Credit Union’s Data Management Program. This role will serve as the program lead for critical data governance functions and will operate in a cross-functional manner across the Credit Union, working closely with business partners. The Data Governance Manager will have full ownership of applicable business processes, ensuring their efficiency, standardization, and adherence to best practices. This includes establishing faster, better, and easier approaches and capabilities to identify, assess, monitor, and report data governance related risk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Take on the ownership and accountability for maturing the Wings Data Governance Program including in developing and executing end-to-end strategy and roadmap.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain data management policies, procedures, and best practices across the credit union.
  • Effectively communicate and engage stakeholders, ensuring that businesses functions adopt robust data management practices relating to data security, data governance and data privacy.
  • Establish and oversee Wings inventory of data assets, demonstrating an actionable data cataloging, data lineage and standardization across naming conventions, data descriptions and reportable metrics.
  • Manage and direct the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of nuanced data governance risks on-prem, cloud and third-party related data assets.
  • Lead the second line of defense data risk dentification, monitoring and assessment activities.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish Wings Data Governance Committee which will include identifying Master Data, Data owners as well as Data Stewards across the credit union.
  • Partner with the Data Analytics, Information Security, Compliance, and Operational risk teams to drive implementation of data governance and data security related processes.
  • Assume leadership and accountability for ongoing internal training for all Wings employees related to data governance topics and activities.
  • Additional duties as required related to the Enterprise Risk Management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, computer science, information management, or a related field is preferred; master’s degree from an accredited college or university is highly preferred.
  • 3-7 years of direct experience working with risk management systems, data governance and information security frameworks.
  • Team leadership experience of 3+ years preferred.
  • Strong understanding of risk management, data governance and information security frameworks and a demonstrated ability to implement such frameworks.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive data governance programs, including strong project management skills with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working with Federal, State, and Local regulators on Data Governance program reviews and audit.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with senior level business clients and experience in developing and implementing change initiatives with a solid track record for delivering results.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and manage cross-functional team engagements, fostering collaboration, exhibiting a positive and solution-oriented mindset to achieving high-performance outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and people skills, with the aptitude to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to lead and manage change initiatives while driving organizational transformation.
  • Ability to see past the question, understand the wider strategy, and think tactically to get to the best result for all parties.
