WHAT YOU’LL DO

As an electrical production engineer, you will oversee the manufacturing and assembly processes for our embedded product lines. This position will act as the process engineer overseeing all technical aspects of our surface mount (SMT) production line, through hole (THT) production line, printed circuit board (PCB) rework, and final assembly. This will include programming the machinery, maintaining equipment, setting up and maintaining a training program, performing rework soldering, keeping production running, and being the technical and quality expert across the entire process.

The production engineer will also be heavily involved with new product development and tasked with taking products from design to production. This will include maintaining inventory levels, documentation per build, and creating test fixtures and production aid design and construction.

This position will be part of a small team and will need to take on both technical and hands-on roles within the production team.

  • Be the surface mount technology (SMT), through hole technology (THT), and final assembly process expert
  • Resolve production problems and line down situations
  • Operate and program SMT equipment as needed
  • Create and maintain work and test instructions
  • Be the go-to resource for soldering within the company
  • Train production employees
  • Work with engineering to create and maintain policies and procedures related to the production area
  • Maintain inventory area organization
  • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment and machinery
  • Troubleshoot failed PCB assemblies and production equipment as needed
  • Lead product repair process
  • Perform PCB rework soldering as needed
  • Maintain PCB and assembly test programs
  • Work with engineering to construct and maintain production aids and test fixtures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

YOUR EXPERIENCES & SKILLS

  • Engineering degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience (4 years) plus four (4) years of experience working in a printed circuit board/electronics assembly facility
  • Knowledge of surface mount assembly process and major process steps
  • Prior experience working with an SMT assembly line preferred
  • Prior PCB, THT, and SMT soldering experience
  • Small pitch part PCB soldering preferred (0402, QFN, and QFP)
  • Experience troubleshooting electronics and PCBs
  • Capable of reading a PCB schematic
  • Knowledge of SMT chip packaging
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to succeed and the ability to work well with others as well as working independently
  • Capable of resolving technical challenges and learning new technologies and methodologies with little assistance
  • Flexible to effectively adapt to changing conditions and job assignments
