ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Member Safety - includes but not limited to the following requirements:

  1. Ensure attendance is maintained and reported daily that is complete, accurate and on-time.
  2. Ensure equipment is in good condition and members are instructed in proper and safe use of equipment.
  3. Ensure that members and staff know what to do in case of an emergency (fire, severe weather, violence, contamination, etc.).
  4. Ensure members are properly supervised when being transported or when walking from one place to another.
  5. Ensure that all potentially harmful objects, chemicals cleansers and substances are secured away from members at all times.
  6. Ensure that all incidents and accidents are reported and documented as soon as they occur and that the proper paperwork is completed and submitted to you in a timely manner.
  7. Communicate in a timely way all concerns regarding the safety and welfare of members.
  8. Contribute to ensuring that safety equipment and supplies are maintained and readily available.

Staff Supervision and Management:

  1. Supervise and hold accountable all staff personnel to ensure that they are performing their job responsibilities according to their job description, BGCNI Policies and Procedures, and State and Federal regulations.
  2. Help staff develop and improve their skills and knowledge of their job and hold them accountable for reasonable improvements over time.
  3. Ensure staff complete initial on-the-job training and periodic refresher trainings and evaluations as required.
  4. Conduct a Performance Review for each employee under your supervision during the month in which it is due and develop an Individual Development Plan with that employee as a part of the Review.
  5. Perform immediate redirection/correction/coaching of staff when needed to correct or improve staff performance.
  6. Assure that proper, timely, accurate and correct documentation of any disciplinary actions is completed on time.
  7. Ensure employees clock in and out in real time according to Club policy.
  8. As much as possible be aware of the needs and concerns of the staff.
  9. Supervise volunteers and interns, providing them positive experiences to grow and learn about the club.
  10. Ensure the staff to maintain a clean and orderly work space on a daily basis.

Administration

  1. Responsible for all membership tracking including new and renewed memberships, program attendance data, and program attendance reporting.
  2. Organizing and maintaining member files.
  3. Work strategically with appropriate staff and management for membership recruitment and retention.
  4. Maintain tracking of staff attendance including time off, infractions, and disciplinary action

Programs Proficiency:

  1. Supervise the planning and organizing of program activities according to the program schedule.
  2. Oversee and supervise the staff implementation of the Five Key Elements of Youth Development:

Administration: Reporting, Documentation, Meetings:

  1. Report any suspected abuse asap to the appropriate upper management.
  2. Complete required operations and administrative documentation and reports as specified in policies and procedures and as directed. These must be complete, correct, accurate and on-time.
  3. Provide administrative paperwork, reports and information in a timely manner as required or requested by Human Resources and Payroll/Accounting, including these essential documents:
  • Start-Up Notice
  • Change Notice
  • Termination Notice
  • Leaves of Absence Request
  1. Participate in member supervision meetings, staff training, team meetings, monthly all-staff meetings and other staff meetings as required.
  2. Attend meetings, trainings and workshops as required or necessary. Make a positive contribution to team meetings.

Attendance and Work Location:

  1. Arrive at work on time and be ready to work at the start of your scheduled shift.
  2. Leave work only at the end of your scheduled shift and not before.
  3. Notify your supervisor in a timely manner if you will be late, need to leave early, or will be absent.

Driving BGCNI Vehicles:

  1. You must have a current Indiana driver's license.
  2. Follow the BGCNI Drivers Guide at all times.
  3. Ensure that all occupants in the vehicle wear seatbelts at all times and that they are secured before moving the vehicle.
  4. Ensure that the vehicle is safe to drive before moving it.
  5. Ensure that the vehicle is clean inside and outside and that all glass has clear visibility for safety.
  6. You must not operate any BGCNI vehicle if under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any other mind-altering substances including prescription medicine.
  7. You must not text in the vehicle while it is moving or stopped at a traffic light or stop sign.

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED:

  1. You may be assigned other duties from time to time in addition to your regular job responsibilities. You will be expected to perform those duties to the best of your ability.
  2. These may include participation in special programs and/or events, and outside events or other Club activities not directly related to your essential duties.
  3. May be required to drive Club van.

Expectations regarding the performance of “other assigned duties” is based on the BGCNI ability to reasonably accommodate such expectations without jeopardizing the consistent achievement of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities.

WORK ETHIC:

  1. Work in collaboration and cooperation with management and staff at all times for the highest benefit of the member.
  2. Abide by the requirements and standards set forth in the Employee Handbook, BGCNI Policies and Procedures, and all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes containing standards and principles that apply.

  4. Maintain close daily contact with Club direct staff, Club members, and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines, instruct, advise, and counsel.
  5. Establish and maintain positive and constructive professional relationships with and set a professional example for members, parents, staff, volunteers, management, and the community at all times.
  6. Maintain a high level of productivity by constructively performing your assigned duties and responsibilities to the best of your ability, by completing work requirements on schedule and improving quality in all work activities.
  7. Maintain your own council and not create, spread, or otherwise participate in gossip.
  8. Look for ways to strengthen teamwork, team efficiency and team performance without forcing your personal agenda onto the team.
  9. Support fellow employees by looking for constructive ways to help when they are busy.
  10. If a conflict arises, settle it quietly, privately and professionally with the other person, never in front of members or co-workers.
  11. Take any concerns and/or complaints you may have to the appropriate supervisor, director or human resources to seek resolution. Follow the Employee Complaint procedure if your concerns cannot be resolved to your satisfaction.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  2. Two years’ experience working with children and adolescents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. At least 20 years of age.
  2. Two years of post-secondary education in Human Services related fields.
  3. Ability to perform high school level arithmetic calculations and reading comprehension.
  4. Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  5. A valid Indiana driver's license and be able to drive an automobile.
  6. Reliable transportation to and from work, to program locations, and for activities such as meetings, classes, and workshops in and out of the area.
  7. Pass a criminal records background check and a 10-panel drug screen.
  8. Maintain current 1st Aid and CPR certification.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  10. Maintain emotional self-control when under personal stress.
  11. Accurately assess situations, solve problems, work effectively under stress, within deadlines, and in emergency situations.
  12. Understand and carry out instructions and procedures with minimal supervision.
  13. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing using correct English.
  14. Exhibit excellent relationship building skills with all levels of employees and management.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
