Education, Licenses, Certification, Skills and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Education:

  • State of Wisconsin licensed or in training Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, or Marriage & Family Therapist
  • Master's degree in specialty field in Human Services (Social Work, Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology), earned from an accredited four-year college or university.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to provide patient centered and trauma informed care
  • Excellent clinical decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications, Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications and Requirements:

    • Licensed Clinician
    • Experience working with children and adolescents.
    • Three to five years relevant experience

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops therapeutic activities, materials, and curriculum.
  • Provides individual, family, and group therapy with youth.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Conducts intakes/assessments/evaluations and plans of care utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Ensures that clinical documentation and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) records are accurate and completed in a timely manner – including progress notes, contact notes, social assessments, treatment plans and discharge summaries.
  • Assists in ongoing program development and/or improvement.
  • Identifies behaviors, prioritizes interventions, and demonstrates ability to de-escalate aggressive behaviors.
  • Participates in de-escalation/restraint training and assists Acute Care department staff with patient safety restraint & seclusion as necessary during behavioral health emergencies
  • Maintains regular on-site attendance
  • Helps guide treatment team on daily curriculum to meet unit milieu needs.
  • Works collaboratively with the youth’s formal and informal support system
  • Provides consultation and education to the community.

Program and Job Competencies:

  • Works under general direction, on multiple tasks with demanding timelines as well as works independently with minimal managerial oversight
  • Completes state approved CBRF training requirements as needed (upon hire and refreshers)
  • Is registered on the UWGB registry for completed CBRF state approved trainings
  • Adheres to all regulations to State of Wisconsin Chapter DHS 35 & 75
  • Documents and maintains accurate client information in the electronic medical record system.
  • Sets and maintains limits on behavior.
  • Identifies presence of altered behavior, poor judgments, and changes in thought processes. Evaluates patient for volitional states that may place the individual and others at risk.
  • Screens for co-occurring mental health issues
  • Demonstrates adherence to accepted ethical and behavioral standards of conduct
  • Successfully completes a minimum of 48 hours of youth related training each year
    • Appropriately uses other assessments as needed, including social assessments.
    • Understands, follows, contributes to, and writes treatment, crisis, safety, and discharge plans as appropriate.
