Job DescriptionJob Description

The Learning & Development Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and implementing training programs across multiple clinic locations. This role involves developing and maintaining training materials, conducting training sessions, and ensuring that all clinical staff are proficient in their roles. The supervisor will work closely with clinic managers and staff to identify training needs, create tailored training plans, and monitor the effectiveness of training programs. Additionally, the Learning & Development Supervisor will stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and high-quality patient care. This position is grant funded. The grant may or may not be funded again after that date. Your employment beyond the grant expiration date is not guaranteed. Should the grant not be funded, you are eligible and encouraged to apply for another position within the agency.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience managing a team, including responsibilities such as overseeing team performance, providing mentorship, and ensuring project goals are met.
  • Experience working in underserved communities such as undocumented workers, unaccompanied minors, LGBT populations, communities of color, youth/adolescents, and those experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, and/or mental illness.
  • Experience in developing and conducting training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of career development theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices teaching methodologies, tools, and experience with e-learning software;
  • Knowledge of Human Resources theories, practices and techniques;
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles;
  • Skilled in effective written and oral communications, creative writing, public speaking, listening, presentation, group facilitation, influencing and proficiency with presentation applications;
  • Skilled in coordinating activities with other internal departments and/or external agencies;
  • Skilled in effective project and time management;
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred (read, write, speak with fluency).
  • Ability to work as part of a team that supports all of SJCH employees at all levels and tenures;
  • Ability to utilize trauma-informed management to resolve complex people relations matters.

Responsibilities

Performs a combination, but not necessarily all, of the following duties:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for clinic staff.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops on various topics including clinical procedures, patient care, and organizational policies.
  • Provide a comprehensive training on customer service and SJCH’s culture of quality to ensure all team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional service and maintain high standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with clinic managers to identify training needs and develop customized training plans.
  • Provide support with the development and implementation of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) and Workforce Development initiatives.
  • Act as an administrator and maintain training records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through SJCH’s Learning Management System.
  • Coordinate and manage the tuition reimbursement program, including processing applications, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees seeking educational advancement.
  • Produce required weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly data collection reports.
  • Work in collaboration with other departments when required.
  • Create, edit, and reproduce training materials.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and other work-related events as needed; and
  • As an exempt position, evening and/or weekend hours may be required to ensure the fulfillment of all duties and responsibilities; and
  • Other duties may be assigned or may be modified as business needs dictate.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position oversees Career Development Coach and the Learning & Development Coordinators and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the team.
