Performs advanced technical work in the planning, organizing, directing, and supervising of the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical, SCADA, information technology, and instrumentation equipment used in water and wastewater treatment facility operations. This position is designated as essential during emergency or disaster situations. Supervision is exercised over department personnel. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Electrical Division Manager.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and implements goals and objectives related to the electrical division. Establishes schedules and methods for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical, SCADA, and instrumentation equipment.
  • Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and evaluates the work of staff involved in the Electrical Division.
  • Evaluates operations and activities, recommends improvements and or modifications, prepares various reports on operations and activities.
  • Assists Electrical Division Manager in developing and administering budgets, helps prepare cost estimates for budget recommendations, submits justifications for equipment, materials, and supplies, monitors and controls expenditures.
  • Assists staff with educational needs, including licensing and safety training.
  • This position is responsible for creating a culture of belonging and inclusion.
  • Work in partnership with all H2GO departments to achieve organizational goals.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Requirements:
  • AA Degree in electrical engineering, electronics, instrumentation, or a North Carolina electrical contractors license required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience working in the instrumentation and electrical field, including considerable supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge and experience working with electrical equipment ranging in voltages from 12 vdc to 460 vac
  • Methods and procedures for instrumentation communications systems including signaling, analog, digital and fieldbus related technologies used for Water and Wastewater infrastructure.
  • Methods and procedures for diagnosing industrial electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and instrumentation malfunctions.
  • Knowledge and practice following NFPA 70E for a safe work environment while working on energized equipment.
  • North Carolina class C driver’s license

Physical and Cognitive Demands Requirements

This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking, hearing, standing, walking and reaching; work has standard vision requirements; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a very noisy location (e.g. construction site, heavy traffic). Work requires the ability to maintain a high level of cognitive function and concentration to perform detailed analysis and execute critical thinking.
