Insurance Verification Specialist/Patient Scheduling Front Desk

Little Rock, AR

Alleviant is the largest full-service, multi-site outpatient psychiatry practice in Arkansas. In fact, we will see more than 70,000 Arkansans this year. We have become the primary referral source for many major systems in the state. We see all new patients within five days of connecting with them and provide integrative psychiatric care with longer appointment times that allow our providers time to work through the disorder and collaborate with our referral sources.

As an Insurance Verification Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring our patients receive the care they need by verifying insurance coverage accurately and efficiently.

Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Insurance Verification Specialist/Patient Scheduling Front Desk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for helping others navigate the complexities of insurance coverage in the healthcare industry. Strong communication skills are essential, and prior medical experience is advantageous. Duties also include insurance verification, compiling patient records, recording medical histories, and gathering insurance information. The position encompasses various social service tasks and requires meticulousness, self-motivation, and a personable demeanor.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate with insurance companies to obtain necessary authorizations and verify coverage details
  • Educate patients on their insurance coverage and any out-of-pocket expenses they may incur
  • Update patient records with accurate insurance information and authorization details
  • Work closely with healthcare providers and billing departments to ensure proper billing and reimbursement processes
  • Resolve any insurance-related issues or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Keep abreast of changes in insurance regulations and policies to ensure compliance and accuracy in verification processes

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare insurance verification or related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of insurance terminology, policies, and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for data entry and verification purposes
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Answer and return high-volume inbound calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Schedule appointments for patient intake and complete demographics according to policy and procedure.
  • Maintained strictest confidentiality; adhered to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
  • Organized and prioritized all work to ensure that all clients were taken care of.
  • Provided support to other staff as necessary.
  • Maintained a polite and professional telephone manner.
  • Conduct follow up calls on patients according to policy and procedure
  • Confirm patient appointments.
  • Coordinate with physicians and medical groups.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Job Context

Majority of the responsibilities will take place at Alleviant Integrated Mental Health Little Rock.

Facility work hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm; however, individual schedules may vary. Individual responsibilities are mostly limited to providing clients outstanding, satisfactory services.
