Director of Marketing:

Reporting to the Senior Vice President & General Manager, this position will assist the Senior Vice President of Marketing with developing monthly, quarterly and annual property level strategic plans and oversee various components of the following marketing functions: Direct Mail, Promotions and Events, Players Club, Electronic Messaging, Group Sales. Works closely with the Director of Casino Marketing to create exceptional experiences for our target customers within our financial guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Achieve maximum revenue in each targeted market segment for gaming and food and beverage.
  • Contributes to ideas to grow existing business and expand into new business opportunities.
  • Anticipate and react to changes in competition, planning assumptions and will alter plans as necessary.
  • Interprets management philosophy to others; translating concepts into practical applications and analyzes and modifies systems based on given management concepts.
  • Serves as a leader for direct reports while fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication.
  • Responsible for hiring, discipline, development and promoting staff in assigned areas.
  • Holds managers accountable for performance.
  • Delegates assignments to the most appropriate person by analyzing the requirements of the task and relating those to the capabilities of employees in order to accomplish tasks on time and with budget.
  • Meets individually with employees to discuss career goals, identifies skills needed to achieve goals and develops action plans to satisfy both.
  • Assists employees through development process by following-up on a regular basis and holding employees accountable to plan.
  • Cross-trains employees and prepares employees for next career opportunity.
  • Coaches and develops team members using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulates expectations.
  • Responsible for the marketing direction and management of Promotions, Audio Visual and Advertising.
  • Oversees integrity of all direct mail offers, offer redemptions, customer lists and customer records.
  • Oversees the development, negotiation, implementation and execution of special events and promotions as designated by the SVP & GM Operations Rock Gaming.
  • Establishes, maintains, and controls department budgets for direct marketing, promotions, advertising, and/or public relations.
  • Evaluates success of special events and casino promotions.
  • Involved in the development, execution, and analysis of effective marketing programs targeted to existing and new customers, including all customers of the JACK brands.
  • Focus on developing relationships and co-op promotions with brand and local strategic alliance partners doing business in the Cleveland market.
  • Analyze property’s customer service scores and make recommendations for improvement. Act as an advocate for the customer.
  • Attend marketing meetings regarding promotions/events.
  • Manages and ensures appropriate level of inter- and intra-departmental communication of all marketing initiatives.
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, departmental and company policies.
  • Provides direction and training to all employees to maintain a positive and fun environment while handling all guest inquiries with promptness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the SVP of Marketing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time (4 hours).
  • Must be able to respond calmly and make rational decisions when handling employee conflicts.
  • Must be able to maneuver throughout all areas of the property and from floor to floor either by stairways (minimum of 20 steps) or escalator.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; and, have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop and kneel.
  • Respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing dust, loud noises and bright lights.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects, and not be frustrated by changing priorities and unforeseen obstacles to achieving objectives.
  • Ability to speak distinctly and persuasively.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience as a guest service agent or other position in hospitality, casino or entertainment.
  • Minimum 5 years previous managerial experience including experience with customer service and marketing.
  • Need a strong advertising, public relations, brand marketing, database marketing, and direct mail background.
  • Proven ability to achieve excellence.
  • Knowledgeable in CMS, data entry, read and interpret output from computer.
  • Extensive knowledge of casino and hotel internal controls, policies and procedures is desirable.
  • Excellent organization, communication, administrative and managerial skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to type 40 wpm.
  • Must be able to work any day of the week and any shift, including weekends and all holidays.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be 21 years of age.

Required Certification/License:

  • Ability to obtain a Key Occupational Gaming License within the State of Ohio.
