Looking for Full Time Grocery Associates - Join a thriving cooperative grocery community, present an appealing, clean, and fully stocked department to optimize the customer experience throughout their time shopping in the store.

Reports To: Grocery Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Starting Wage Scale: $14.5/hour and up (depending on experience)

Benefits: including paid time off, sick pay, supplemented health insurance, employee discount, public transit benefit, participation in company health insurance plan (Co-op contributes 25% of the premium)

Grocery Associates are primarily responsible for presenting an appealing, clean, and fully stocked grocery department to optimize the customer experience through their time shopping.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Experience

  • Exceed our customers' expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment for all people and all diverse backgrounds
  • Model, provide, and ensure customers receive prompt, friendly, and courteaous services in a professional manner that demonstrates our cooperative advantage.
  • Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to prepare products.

Grocery

  • Stock, displays, shelves, bins, coolers, and freezers fully without overcrowding; face items on shelves.
  • Rotate stock accordign to established procedures.
  • Pull short-date or low-quality items and dispose of them according to department guidelines.
  • Dispose of damaged or spoiled goods promptly, according to department guidelines and properly maintain shrink records
  • Unload deliveries and check-in orders.
  • Rotate stock into storage. Maintain storage system in backroom.
  • Assist with processing of special orders
  • Ensure that department areas are in clean, orderly condition, meeting health department standards and items are fully stocked, faced, and in excellent condition for purchase.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Language ability - comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Communicate effectively and respecfully in oral or written from to staff and customers of diverse backgrounds.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Customer service skills - ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations. Communicate responsibly.
  • Respond promptly to requests for customer assistance.
  • Quality of work - demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Apply feedback to improve performance.
  • Quality of work - work quickly and accurately wiht a sense of urgency.
  • Preferred - experience in or knowledge of the natural food industry.
