Certified Veterinary Technician

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team. The CVT will play a pivotal role in providing skilled nursing care, technical support, and compassionate treatment to our patients. This position requires a strong background in veterinary medicine and the ability to excel in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities of the Certified Veterinary Technician
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and emergency procedures.
- Perform advanced nursing procedures including venipuncture, catheter placement, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Conduct diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays and ultrasound scans.
- Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs and conditions, and intervene as necessary.
- Educate clients on post-treatment care, medications, and home care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of patient treatments and procedures.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of medical equipment and treatment areas. Collaborate effectively with veterinarians, fellow technicians, and support staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to veterinary assistants and support staff.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise Required to be Successful
- Certification as a Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician in an emergency or critical care setting.
- Proficiency in veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Strong technical skills including anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and emergency interventions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members.
- Compassion for animals and a commitment to their well-being.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
