Summary:

  • Under direct supervision, learns and performs basic skills related to fabricating aircraft cabinets and wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.

  • Learn entry-level technical skills, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking.

  • Develop technical competency and problem-solving abilities for progression to the technician level.

  • Use safety procedures, design drawings, and tools to develop proficiency in furniture preparation and fabrication.

  • Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign off on completed work.

  • Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and use personal protective equipment; ensure aircraft interiors are protected.

  • Assist in developing and implementing related initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Experience in woodworking, wood finishing, auto body, and painting in a technical environment preferred.

  • Technical Certificate in cabinet making or completion of a youth apprenticeship program in the area of expertise is a plus.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.

  • Must be computer literate.
