JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: SHELTER PROGRAM DIRECTOR
FLSA: EXEMPT
REPORTS: ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT
DEPARTMENT: SHELTER OPERATIONS
LOCATION: BRONX, NY
SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall operation of the shelter and the program, ensuring that all facets of the shelter operate in compliance with OTDA/DHS shelter guidelines. Reports directly to the Assistant Vice President of Housing Services. Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises the Director of Social Services, Administrative Assistant and Housing Specialist
- Upholds all agency, division and shelter policies and procedures and ensures that all social services are operating optimally and in program compliance.
- Ensures that housing targets are achieved.
- Create accurate monthly reports both internally and externally
- Ensure that all incidents are reported timely and accurately.
- Ensures that family’s needs are being addressed through regular meeting with subordinates.
- Recommends hiring and promotions, makes corrective and termination decisions in conjunction with appropriate supervisory parties and department.
- Ensures that social services staff are provided with regular supervision
- Serves on agency and division committees and work groups.
- Represent agency at external meetings with collaborative agencies and funders.
- Monitor program performance related to established benchmarks, internally and DHS benchmarks
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in social work or related human services field. Five years’ human services work experience with three years of supervisory and management capacity. Ability to manage a multi-faceted, dynamic program. Strong planning, interpersonal and communication skills a must. 24 hour on-call for emergencies and local travel required. Must be comfortable with using the computer. Must be familiar with CARES
