Job Summary
We are looking for a medical billing and verification specialist who will be responsible for medical billing, verification and general administrative support for our 2 outpatient mental health clinics, including following up on claim denials, communicating with insurance companies and patients about outstanding balances and working closely with our therapists and clinic director/manager to improve our billing practice and process and other general administrative support.

This job requires both a willingness to follow up aggressively with insurance companies as well as an ability to focus on details about medical charges.

The candidate must be comfortable with working closely with the Clinic Director, Clinic Manager and Owner while also working independently, and being detail oriented.

Responsibilities & Standards:
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with patients, coworkers and insurance carriers.
  • Verify patient insurance and log in our system
  • Verify all patient and claim data to support effective claims submissions
  • Work with our Ellie Mental Health Franchisor and owner to support effective and timely billing
  • Follow-up on all denials within 72 hours of receipt
  • Support administrative aspects of on-boarding providers into our systems (will be trained)
  • Participate in accurate collection activities and accounts receivable management. This may include reaching out to clients, updating credit cards on file, mailing second and third notices to past due accounts and letters of patient responsibility
  • Manage/monitoir accounts receivable to reflect collectable dollars
  • Resolve patient complaints within a minimal timeframe, same day whenever possible
  • Phones answered & voicemails returned within same day
  • Conducts themselves in accordance with Ellie Mental Health Policies and Procedures including the Code of Conduct
  • Meets or Exceeds monthly performance goals, expectations and reviews
  • Actively participates in team meetings and educational opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED
  • At least 1 experience in collections activities
  • Health Care medical billing experience is preferred
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite
Communication Skills:
  • Proficient oral and written communications, and project management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving and customer service
  • Ability to conduct telephone conversations with patients regarding account resolution and payment collection.
  • Must demonstrate positive interpersonal relationship skills with individuals and groups in a wide variety of settings
  • Insurance terminology knowledge essential
Requirements:
  • At least one year of experience as a biller is necessary.
  • Must be extremely detailed and self sufficient
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Strong knowledge of Google Drive and Sheets
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Able to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skill
