Transitional Kindergarten/Prekindergarten Curriculum Specialist (Contractor)

IM seeks to ensure that students, particularly historically underserved students, and their teachers have access to aligned, grade-level, mathematics curriculum resources, and that teachers experience professional learning that leads to enduring mathematical learning for their students. 

Position Type: Contractor (temporary)Location:  Remote - U.S. location preferredCompensation
  • The compensation is $40 to $45 per hour commensurate with experience.
  • This position is approved to be compensated for up to 40 hours per week based on the workflow and contractor’s availability.
Availability
  • Preference: ability to start this work by June 24, 2024.
  • Preference: a commitment to dedicate at least 25 hours per week to this work.

Summary

The TK/PK Curriculum Specialist will collaborate directly with the project lead to write, review, and revise TK mathematics curriculum. Work assignments will be assigned by the TK project lead and project manager.

Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Draft, review, and revise TK curriculum components, while adhering to a curriculum map and style guide, for lessons, centers, teacher reflection questions, and math community-building prompts.
  • Review and provide feedback on materials through a variety of lenses, such as 
    • mathematical accuracy and coherence
    • classroom use efficiency
    • clarity for intended audiences (teachers and students)
  • Receive and incorporate feedback in order to improve curriculum components. 
  • Other related tasks as needed for the project to function and meet deadlines.
Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience teaching transitional kindergarten or prekindergarten classrooms/students.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience designing problem-based mathematics curriculum.
  • Excellent knowledge of early childhood mathematics content, including an understanding of mathematics learning trajectories.
  • Understanding of transitional kindergarten teaching practices and learning expectations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 Preferred Qualifications 
  • Experience writing early childhood curriculum. 
  • Familiarity with writing standards-aligned mathematics curriculum.
  • Strong computer skills with cloud-based systems, especially Google Workspace applications, Zoom, and Slack.
