THE POSITION

The Quality Engineer at Staccato will play a crucial role in ensuring that our firearms and components meet rigorous quality and safety standards. This position involves developing and implementing quality assurance processes, conducting inspections and tests, and collaborating with various departments to identify and resolve quality issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality control within the firearms industry and a commitment to continuous improvement. Below are the core job duties for this role, the QE is required but not limited by the following:


KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures specific to Staccato’s manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of the production line to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize statistical methods and quality tools to monitor and control the manufacturing process, ensuring product consistency and reliability.
  • Design and execute comprehensive testing procedures for firearms and components to verify performance, safety, and durability.
  • Analyze test results and provide detailed reports with recommendations for improvements.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to evaluate new designs and prototypes, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards before production.
  • Identify root causes of quality issues using systematic problem-solving techniques and develop effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address quality problems and implement process improvements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practices and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of quality control inspections, tests, and audits.
  • Prepare and present quality reports to management, highlighting trends, issues, and improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is current, thorough, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement improvement plans.
  • Conduct supplier audits and inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
  • Ensure all products adhere to federal, state, and local firearm regulations, including ATF guidelines.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and regulatory requirements changes, ensuring Staccato remains compliant.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance/quality control, preferably in the firearms or defense industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of quality control methodologies, tools, and processes (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, FMEA).
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ATF regulations).
  • Experience with CAD software and technical drawing interpretation.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Experience in firearms manufacturing and knowledge of firearm mechanics and functionality.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in quality-related software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to maintaining quality standards.
