Behavioral Health Counselor- Bilingual


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • consultations about clients
  • initial mental health evaluations resulting in realistic treatment plans
  • assessing clients using standardized assessment/screening tools, measures, etc.
  • provide brief, solution focused therapy.
  • provide information and referral services.
  • Short/long term care coordination
  • crisis assessments/triage with appropriate interventions
  • Coordinate relevant activities designed to provide integrated health care services.
  • individual psychotherapy with children, adults and families
  • provide psychotherapy to children and adults.
  • other duties as assigned


Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, health services or related
  • 3 years’ experience in working with migrants and/or shelters
  • Two years’ experience providing clinical services in the mental health field
  • Bilingual English/Spanish


Experience

  • Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
  • Must demonstrate ability to handle emergency and crisis situations.
  • Statement of good health (required every two (2) years throughout employment).
