Job DescriptionJob Description

CSS is currently recruiting a Safety Specialist to provide environment, occupational safety and industrial hygiene services for our Federal government client on an evening shift (2:30pm-10:30pm).

Specific tasks to be performed include the following:

  • Conducting environment, safety and health inspections
  • Investigating and documenting employee Injuries, Illnesses, Near Misses and Incidents pertaining to fire and other emergencies
  • Responding to Chemical Spills
  • Issuing Hot Work and Confined Space Entry Permits
  • Updating and maintaining SDS Records
  • Assisting with the planning and evaluating evacuation drills
  • Assisting with machine guarding assessments
  • Maintaining a document filing system (both electronic and paper files)
  • Coordinating and conducting Environmental, Safety, Fire Prevention, and Health Training
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of equipment-specific energy control procedures
  • Conducting exposure monitoring to occupational stressors such as noise, dust, airborne chemicals and non-ionizing radiation
  • Conducting Job safety analyses (JSAs) and training employees on JSAs

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in environmental science, safety, occupational health, physical science, or engineering
  • 1 or more years of experience working in the environment, safety and industrial hygiene field and knowledge of applicable standards and regulations
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • Agency level clearance is required for this position

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a solid contributor in a team environment.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and changing direction depending on work load.

CSS is predominantly a Federal Contractor and is subject to following the terms of Executive Orders. CSS requires all Employees (Direct, Indirect, government, state, and commercial), including employees working from home/remotely, to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption. Exceptions to the COVID-19 vaccine requirements may be provided to individuals for religious beliefs or medical reasons. Requests for an exception must be submitted to the CSS HR Department.
