WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

We are looking for a responsible Controls Engineer to be a hands-on and skilled controls expert This person will provide expertise on complex industrial controls engineering solutions, act as a professional resource for the team, design and develop various controls narratives and PLC programs. This challenging position relies on the ability of the team members to adapt to new projects. The Controls Engineer utilizes new and old learnings to complete necessary projects to help foster the widespread adoption of hydrogen across all energy sectors. The Controls Engineer draws on the team members' vast knowledge and experience in conjunction with his/her/their expertise of hydrogen stations and skillset with hydrogen station service to work independently and attack the most difficult and urgent problems facing the service technicians.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Create PLC code and data structures in an efficient manner for control of various industrial systems using controls narratives, electrical schematics, and other various drawings.
  • Work with various engineering disciplines to develop control narratives per design specifications.
  • Work with various engineering disciplines to ensure PLC architecture and hardware is in alignment with electrical design, electrical documentation, and design specifications.
  • Create, review, or modify electrical schematics, drawings, and I/O lists for various mechanical systems to ensure compliance with engineering standards.
  • Assist Engineering and Field Service team with commissioning and troubleshooting of applied programming at ground up or existing stations.
  • Assist with I/O checkout/troubleshooting of various instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot PLC code, identify problems/bugs and implement resolution in either controlled or field environments.
  • Work with our engineering team to develop electrical, instrumentation and controls products and systems to satisfy unique customer specifications, contracts, and new business development.
  • Submit status reports to management on progress of assigned projects.
  • Assist Field Service Technicians as necessary in equipment tests, assembly, installation, and set-up activities to ensure components and systems are performing to engineering design standards and supplier specifications.
  • Certifying Cabinets to UL508A is a benefit.
  • Help estimate engineering time, costs and resources required for projects.
  • Ability to Travel 30% of the time or more.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE: Travel time: It is anticipated that 30% of the work time will be spent in the field (primarily in California).

The base salary range for this full-time position is $76,000 to $155,000 + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work locations and additional factors, including job-related skill, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only and do not include any bonus or benefits.

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Experience programming to IEC 61131-3

Minimum 3 years of experience with controls programming and narratives

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Proficient typist

Excellent attention to detail

Time management and organization skills.

Ability to work with multiple discipline projects.

Ability to work with multiple disciplines.

Exhibit excellent documentation practices.

Knowledge of low and medium (24VDC, 110 VAC, 208 VAC) voltage equipment, including motors, relays, compressors and PLC’s (hands on experience preferred)

Knowledge of electrical systems, including 4-20mA system, pressure transducers, valves, electronic and air operated valves, control valves and PLC logic (hands on experience preferred)

Knowledge of various PLC I/O cards and their application.
