Position Summary:
The general accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and preparing and analyzing financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations, and assisting with filing tax and business registration filings. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must fulfill the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requirements listed below.
- Compilation, analysis, reconciliation, review, recording, and reporting of a large assortment of financial data to assist communication with divisional personnel to support and provide accurate and relevant integral financial reporting in an efficient and timely manner.
- Reconciliation and analysis of general ledger accounts, posting general ledger journal entries, and document imaging of journal entry substantiation for retention.
- Prepare internal financial reporting including monthly financial statement compilation, ensuring timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Complete required regulatory and compliance business filings and tax reporting in a timely manner.
- Research and propose issue resolution using root-cause analysis.
- Gather information requested by internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews, tax jurisdiction audits, and financial year-end audits.
- Participate in rotation of duties among team staff accountants to support cross-training initiatives.
- Reconcile perpetual inventory records to general ledger inventory balances on a monthly basis and prepare the monthly inventory turns report.
- Act as a resource across the broader organization regarding accounting issues, reporting, and analysis.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (emphasis on Excel)

- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize to meet deadlines
Preferred Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, a related area, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Experience:
- 2-5 years of relevant accounting experience in a workplace environment
- Experience with general ERP systems (SAP a plus)
