Grooming Salon Manager

Salty Dawg Pet Salon & Bakery, Atlanta

Full-Time

Job Summary:

Our company owns several dozen salons, but Salty Dawg is our first pet grooming salon. Our plan is to open many more in the months ahead. The Pet Grooming Salon Manager position has a lot of autonomy. He/she will oversee the daily operations of the entire store - from front of house (retail, schedules, bookings, etc) to back of house (dog bathing, grooming, etc). The salon manager is responsible for building and managing their team. This role requires a strong background in pet grooming, leadership skills, and the ability to effectively build and manage both staff and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Management

Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the grooming facility, including scheduling, managing workflow, and ensuring the facility is clean and well-maintained.

Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of grooming supplies and equipment. Order supplies as needed and ensure proper storage and usage.

Equipment Maintenance: Ensure grooming tools and equipment are well-maintained and functioning properly. Report and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

2. Staff Management

Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor grooming staff to ensure they adhere to company standards and best practices.

Scheduling: Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient operation.

Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance issues or conflicts within the team.

Recruitment: Hire and Onboard new front of house staff as well as back of house groomers.

3. Customer Service

Client Interaction: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients. Address client inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner.

Service Quality: Ensure that all grooming services meet or exceed client expectations. Monitor and evaluate the quality of services provided by the grooming team.

Appointments: Manage appointment scheduling and ensure efficient use of grooming resources.

4. Health and Safety

Safety Protocols: Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure the safety of pets, clients, and staff.

Training: Provide training on proper grooming techniques, animal handling, and safety procedures.

Emergency Procedures: Ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures and first aid. Respond to any incidents or emergencies promptly.

5. Administrative Duties

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of grooming services, client information, and staff performance.

Reporting: Prepare and submit reports on facility performance, including financial metrics, client feedback, and staff performance.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to animal care and business operations.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in pet salon management.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in pet grooming or related field is preferred but not required.

Skills:

Leadership: Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and support staff.

Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on client satisfaction.

Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Technical Skills: Proficient in using grooming tools and equipment; basic knowledge of grooming software and systems is a plus.
