Job Title: Quality Control Inspector – Swing Shift

Department: Quality Control

Reports to: Senior Quality Manager

Location: Onsite, Hillsboro, OR

Job Summary:

As a Swing Shift Quality Control Inspector, you will be responsible for the incoming, in process, and final inspection of raw materials, a variety of integrated systems, tubing, piping, fabricated parts, machined parts and other manufacturing components. You will work with the QC Team to ensure conformance of finished goods, raw material and in process work to company, regulatory and customer specifications. This may include the inspection of electrical components and systems. The swing shift inspector will need to coordinate and prioritize swing shift work, confidently execute testing/inspections, provide clear documentation/handoff to other shifts, train coworkers on company standards, and ensure the safety of swing employees. Swing shift inspectors will work on day shift initially until training is complete, then will most likely transition to swing shift.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspects raw materials, components, or finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Uses a variety of inspection tools and equipment to assess product conformity.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of inspection results.
  • Create inspection reports and non-conformance reports (NCRs) as needed.
  • Inspect parts from tubing benders, laser cutting and machining centers
  • Record results of inspections and document on CoC, drawing and router
  • Dimensionally inspect raw material and finished parts to drawings, applicable documentation using precision measuring tools, gauges, and other required tooling
  • Document Non-Conformances in product

Skills Integral to the Job:

  • Reputation for taking initiative, setting goals, following direction, clear communication, thorough documentation, and getting things done right the first time
  • Leadership skills/experience managing small teams
  • Capable of reading plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Knowledge of applicable welding codes including the BPVC, ASME IX, B31.3, and D1.6 (preferred)
  • Knowledge of measuring inspection techniques

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 2 years of Quality Control experience
  • Weld Inspection Experience (Certification preferred: CWI, CAWI, VTII)
  • Experience leading/managing small teams
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience inspecting electrical components and systems preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, or walking
  • Work conditions may include areas of restricted movement, air contamination, intense noise and hazardous materials
  • Must be able to regularly lift to 40 pounds at once
  • Work in a cleanroom
  • Ability to work swing shift schedule (approximately 3pm-1:30am)
