As Director of the Harc Steppingstones Birth to Three state contracted program, your role will advance both the Connecticut Birth to Three mission and vision and Harc’s overall mission. This position collaborates, strategizes, and supports the Senior Director with effective leadership ensuring our team of dedicated professionals, implement best practices, develop family-centered positive outcome focused activities, receive specialized training, build beneficial community relationships and resources, and remain on the cutting edge of early intervention service delivery.

With a family-centered philosophy and respect for cultural diversity, the Director will act as a mentor, facilitator, and positive role model while providing supervision and support for regional team interactions with children, their families, and other community relationships and partnerships. Leadership and communication skills will be instrumental in fostering a supportive and enriching environment for those we serve and our employees. The Director’s assistance in management, guidance, and coordination of operations will ensure compliance with agency policies and all regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:

Compliance and Reporting Assistance:

  • Monitor program operations:
    • Ensure compliance to the Connecticut Birth to Three mission, vision, policies and procedures
      • Ensure compliance to all State and Federal regulatory requirements including FERPA and HIPAA
      • Advocate in the interest of infants and toddlers with special needs including a variety of developmental disabilities to support their developmental skills and health related needs

  • Advance Harc’s mission and guiding principle:
    • Ensure adherence to Harc agency policy and procedures
    • Further Harc’s strategic plan

  • Attend agency activities

Staff Management and Training Assistance:

  • Supervise and serve as a resource for the transdisciplinary birth to three team:
    • Build knowledge and depth of understanding for implementing:
      • Activity based teaming
      • Natural learning environments
      • Family centered activities that promote positive outcomes
      • Best practices
    • Monitor service quality and staff development:
      • Mentor coaching of family coaches to reach fidelity in EI practice
      • Monitor overall team fidelity of EI practice
      • Co-appointments and chart reviews

  • Lead, participate, and/or provide trainings to support mastery of early intervention service delivery during program meetings or off site appointments at family homes, community meetings, and/or daycares and agency-wide events/meetings

  • Collaborate regarding staff performance evaluations

  • Participate in and/or lead training and supervision of new employees

  • Attain knowledge of and provide backup support for administrative team

Additional Job Functions:

  • Maintain up-to-date training commensurate with the position and professional licensure requirements

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
    • Master’s degree preferred
    • Valid professional Connecticut licensure or certification
  • Demonstrated experience working with families and young children in early intervention required, including primary service provider/service coordination credential
    • Candidate must have met family coach fidelity
    • Experience with mentor coaching preferred
  • Creative problem solving and strong communication skills necessary
  • Efficiency in productivity and deadline management
  • Proficiency in Google and associated applications
  • Ability to work a 40 hour work week; Monday to Friday
  • Valid driver's license required with reliable transportation, to provide off site appointments at family homes, community meetings, and/or daycares and agency-wide events
