Job Profile: Quality Technician

Reports To: QA / QC Manager


Company Overview

ISO Services is a 40+ year old industrial service and construction company providing all disciplines of industrial maintenance and construction. We are a division of Ergon Construction Group, an Ergon, Inc. company. Our services include specialty trades (insulation, fireproofing, painting/coatings, scaffolding & heat tracing) in addition to our mechanical and civil capabilities.


Position Overview:

This is a support position for ISO Services. The QC technician provides support to the QC Manager in all phases of inspection work and for other activities that involve ISO Services.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Always keeps safe work habits as the highest priority.
  • Follows policies and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook and other facility policy and procedure manuals.
  • Properly fill out JSA's and acquire work permits in process plant units.
  • Strives to develop good working relationships with all co-workers, customers, and associates.
  • Works with Project Engineering on projects and maintenance work.
  • Inspection of weldments of structural steel and piping.
  • Reads, understands, and works from blueprints.
  • Properly documents all QC par sheets and ASME Reports.
  • Must be able to understand and issue welding procedures.
  • Performs Tank Inspections as directed by QC Inspector.
  • On-call duties as required at the discretion of the QC Inspector.
  • Must be able to work out of town possibly for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to assist and witness hydro or pneumatic testing.
  • Must be able to assist in weld mapping and Brinell hardness testing mapping.
  • Ability to assist others in welding/fitting crafts.

Applicable Experience & Competencies:

Requires High School Diploma or G.E.D; requires a minimum of 5 years' QA/QC experience of fabrication or inspection of industrial piping and structural steel weldments; AWS CWI is required, with a minimum of 2 year's process plant experience in an industrial construction; Must be able to develop and maintain programs for ASME Code stamps; Must have general knowledge of Civil drawings and the basic principles of concrete and a general knowledge of steam tracing and pipe/ tank insulation.


API 653, API 510, API 570, NACE Level I, NCCER credentials preferred, but not required


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50#.
  • Must be in a physical condition that will allow walking long distances.
  • Must be able to work in high places (no fear of heights)
  • Must be able to work in any environment (heat, cold, rain)
  • Must be able to physically work up to 84 hours a week, if necessary
  • Must be able to stand for a long period of time.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach and climb.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be well-groomed.
  • This position will be based in Vicksburg, MS with possible move to Flowood, MS in the future. Travel will be required.
