New York, United States Purpose Full time
Job DescriptionJob Description

ABOUT PURPOSE

Purpose builds and supports movements to advance the fight for an open, just, and habitable world. We use public mobilization and storytelling to help leading organizations, activists, businesses, and philanthropies engaged in this fight, and we create campaigning labs and new initiatives that can shift policies and change public narratives when it matters most.

To do this, Purpose brings together world-class talent from the world of creatives, content development, storytelling, campaigning, grassroots organizing, and political strategy to build new creative campaigning models.

Guided by smart strategy and powered by participation, our work reframes issues, engages new audiences, shifts public discourse, and ultimately drives targeted action and creates lasting impact. Join the team that made all this work

ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose is seeking an innovative and entrepreneurial Senior Director to join our team and build our Global Climate Strategy. The person in this role will be leading the charge on revenue generation to directly support our Climate Action strategy. As a Senior Director, they will play the role of Principal on projects with Purpose's largest philanthropic and corporate partners, be a thought leader in the future of our offerings across our client portfolio, and identify, nurture and deliver new funding and partnerships aligned with our climate strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record conceiving of new impact opportunities, fundraising to make them happen, and experience and enthusiasm for client/donor engagement and relationship management at the highest levels. In addition, they will also have led or advised large delivery teams, managed a portfolio of multi-million dollar campaigns and other complex projects.

We are looking for a tenacious individual who can run a pitch process, inspire and care for a diverse team, deliver sharp strategy and creative thinking, and push our clients and donors to take bold, impactful, and equitable action on the biggest issues of our time. They know how to build relationships with politically, socially, culturally and economically diverse people and organizations, and understand how to use existing power structures for social change.

This role is offered with a base salary range of $140,000+ (commensurate with experience) plus performance-based incentive structures and additional benefits including a generous PTO policy, flexible working hours, etc. Purpose deeply values professional development, and there are many opportunities for growth in this role. We are open to candidates based in and around New York. This role is a hybrid/remote first role, with travel as required for meetings and in-office co-working from our space in Union Square as required/desired.

CLIMATE AT PURPOSE:

We're in a moment where the visible signs of the climate crisis are accelerating daily, and more solutions than ever before are within our grasp. The missing piece is to create the will among decision makers to act swiftly and decisively.

Through our innovative Labs model, we have designed strategies that have enhanced the work of Climate Acton organizations and leaders, supported and enhanced meaningful solutions around the Climate Crisis, while identifying ways to unlock the power of unengaged audiences. Our partners have ranged from front line communities suffering immediate impacts of the climate crisis, to faith-based and rural community groups too often silent on the issue, and to journalists fighting against a deluge of climate disinformation.

Our philosophy is that to meet the challenge, we must be experimental, evidence driven, open sourced in our learnings and promote collective action. We approach every engagement from an audience centric perspective, seeking effective ways of engaging them in climate positive initiatives on their terms, not ours. We are committed to an ethic of non-redundancy and we constantly seek to operate in gaps in the existing climate infrastructure by using our strategic, creative, campaigns, and monitoring and evaluation capabilities to help identify new opportunities to accelerate impact.
